Toxic Waste Being Collected in Marion

September 18, 2009

Rid your home of toxic waste at Marion’s Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day this Saturday, September 19th from 9am – 1pm at Whirlpool Corporation on Marion-Agosta Road/Route 95 West.

Residents of the DKMM Solid Waste District can take advantage of this convenient opportunity to safely dispose of corrosives, flammables, and poisons such as household cleaners, pool chemicals, batteries, kerosene, automotive fluids, pesticides, propane cylinders, fertilizers, mercury, and ammunition (50 calibers or less).

Cell phones, computers and tires will also be accepted, but no televisions or paint.

Donations of $5/car and $10/truck are suggested, and there is an extra charge for all tires this year.

If you cannot make it to Whirlpool on September 19th, another drop-off will be held at Knox County Fairgrounds on Saturday, October 3rd from 9am – 1pm.

Call Marion County Recycling & Litter Prevention at 223-4120 for further information.
