Home is Marion, Ohio set to be demolished

July 10, 2009

The Marion Star reported a while back that Marion city was receiving nearly $16 million dollars as part of the The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Part of these funds were from a grant, The Neighborhood Stabilization act which allows communities to demolish uninhabitable residential properties.

Last week I obtained a list of all the properties being concidered in this project and was surprised to see how many were on the list (and I would be happy to share it with you if you would contact me and ask). The city will use the grant money to have the houses torn down and then the vacant lots will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Keep an eye on your neighborhood for some of these lots to be opening up soon.
