My Birthday Wish….

July 29, 2009

I want underwear for my birthday tomorrow! There, I said it, UNDERWEAR! Not the frilly kind, not even undies for me. I want Underwear for Africa, undies for those that would otherwise not have any. In my Twitter travels I met Jeff Turner (@respres) who is married to the one and only Rocky Turner (@HeadMutha), the Head Mutha and mastermind of Underwear For Africa.

So what is this project all about? Here’s what the site has to say:

“In 2006 we found out from GVN’s Kenyan coordinator, that underwear Undiesis a luxury to have. Underwear is expensive, $12 for a pack of 5. That might not sound much, but the reality is, when you are making $1 a day, underwear is last on the list. And if you are an orphan, well, unless it’s donated, you don’t have any.

It was easy to make the decision that Underwear would be a priority on our list to bring to Kenya.  In 2007, over 1700 pairs were passed out to schools and orphanages outside of Nairobi, Kenya. In 2008, another 1000 pairs were distributed to two IDP camps. In April 2009, over 2000 pairs were passed out to various IDP camps and orphanages once again.”

So, how’s all this going to work you ask? Much like my ‘Cans For Comments’ virtual food drive, for each comment or birthday wish left on my blog over the next 48 hours I will donate one pair of Undies. Simple, right? Now, leave your comments and tell your friends!!!

Happy AnniBirth Day!

July 21, 2009

On this very day, twenty-five years ago my parents were married and a few years prior to that my father was born. For years we have teased my dad about getting married on his birthday in hopes that he wouldn’t forget. Whatever their reasoning it’s all good to me.
I simply wish the two of you a Happy Anniversary and a Happy Birthday to Dad. I don’t think I could have asked for better parents, or grandparents for Baby Bear.

Other agents around the country have been utilizing the latest and greatest video technology for their listings and from now on I will be doing the same.  Above is an example that I did for my broker, Rick Roe. I am in the process of creating a video for all my current listings and intend to do them for all listings in the future. I know, I know youtube isn’t the very most professional but it is FREE and who doesnt love such a pricetag? Whenever possible I am uploading directly but when I can’t do that I have to embed from youtube, just so you know!

Thelma & Louise come to Kenton

Thelma & Louise come to Kenton

I am preparing to walk at the Hardin County Relay for Life this evening and as I prepare I can’t help but think of all of the people in my life that have been effected by the evil that is cancer. I could yammer on about how life sucks without some of them or how difficult the fight to remission has been but I can’t. I can’t say any of that because despite the loss or struggle each instance has brought me closer to those around me.

Tonight I will walk for those that are no longer with us; my grandfather Larry, my grandmother Nova, a highschool classmate, a neighbor. I will walk for those that have beat cancer; my grandmother Mary Lou, a co-worker and a fellow Realtor. I will walk for those that are currently in treatment; a sister-in-law and friend. I will walk for a cure and the hope that Bo, my son, will never see this monsterous disease.

Home is Marion, Ohio set to be demolished

The Marion Star reported a while back that Marion city was receiving nearly $16 million dollars as part of the The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Part of these funds were from a grant, The Neighborhood Stabilization act which allows communities to demolish uninhabitable residential properties.
Last week I obtained a list of all the properties [...]

Buying a home is kind of like buying shoes… only BIGGER

I have been lusting after a pair of Fluevogs for nearly a year now. They are some of the coolest looking and most comfortable (according to their reviews) shoes on the planet. As you can see from their website they are also probably the most expensive shoes I would ever buy, unless I continue to [...]
