Summer~Time To Volunteer

June 9, 2009

Summer time offers many great opportunities to volunteer your time and skills to some of the many non-profit organizations in and around Marion. volunteer20logo

Working With Children

  • Big Brothers-Big Sisters is always looking for ‘Bigs’, volunteers to supervise events and people to organize activities.
  • If you are looking for something that you know will be short-term, local churches are always in need of help during Bible School. Each church needs different things from their volunteers so just call your favorite house of worship for the details and how you can be of assistance.
  • The local YMCA needs coaches and instructors for their programs, some require some training such as CPR certification but that training is invaluable.

Helping The Elderly

  • Marion Area Concil on Aging likes to plan activities and trips for it’s members, some of which require an extra hand or two(that’s where you come in).

People Helping People

  • Our local chapter of Habitat for Humanity is in dire need of people willing and able to lend them a hand building homes, fix lunches for workers and do office work. No matter your skills or the amount of time you have to give, Habitat has a task for you. (740)383-2007
  • Have plendy of junk but not time to yave your own yardsale? Throughout the summer Hospice of Marion County has several Yard Sales to raise funds for their organization. Donate your goods to their cause for them to sell at one of their yard sale events.

If you don’t have any time or skils that you wish to share the Friends of the Marion Public Library is preparing for their annual book sale. Contact your local branch of Marion Public Library about donating your old books.
